Soak your Heart

We must train our minds to focus on the Lord when we are dealing with problems. If we focus on our problems, we will sink in the ocean of trouble, just as Peter did when he took his eyes off the Lord.

The Lord wants to purge us of self-trust so we can learn to trust in him. The mountain of self must be moved out of the way. Otherwise, we short-circuit his power from flowing through us.

Sonshine: The Call to Be Lights in a Darkened World

Judges5.31Scripture: Judges 5:31

“‘So may all your enemies perish, Lord! But may all who love you be like the sun when it rises in its strength.’ Then the land had peace forty years.” (NIV)

Think of the sun when it rises in its strength. We can feel its warm and comforting presence. It provides light so we can see where we are going. Christians are called to be lights in this darkened world.

Scripture affirms our identity as light bearers: “You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness” (1 Thessalonians 5:5, NIV).

Send Out the Light

Send me your light and your faithful care, let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy mountain, to the place where you dwell.” (NIV)

God empowers those he is using to accomplish his purposes in this world. As KingdomNomic thinkers, we know that Christ is the light of the world, the source of life, and the fountain of life where we must spend time soaking our hearts in his presence.
