Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and exhorting one another with all wisdom, singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, all with grace in your hearts to God. (Colossians 3:16)
Jesus said, “The Spirit is the one who gives life; human nature is of no help! The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.” (John 6:63)
When we soak our mind, thoughts, and heart in the Word of God, we are focusing on life itself—the life of Christ that empowers us to accomplish God’s purpose for us.
Once our heart is soaked with these verses, we can recite and pray them to back to God. One of my favorite verses is, “My heart is stirred by a noble theme as I recite my verses for the king; my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer” (Psalm 45:1, NIV). I like to refer to this “reciting” as sowing to the Spirit.
From the Spirit we receive life and power, God’s Word flowing through us. Galatians 6:8 tells us, “Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life” (Galatians 6:8, NIV).
As these principles move from our head to our heart, they remind us of what it is we need to do to experience the reality of the Holy Spirit working in and through us.
When God’s Word operates in our life, the Spirit suppresses our desire for earthly things that would divert us from God’s purposes for us. We are then empowered to accomplish all that he has for us.
Soak, Sow, and Flow is a key KingdomNomics principle for helping us enjoy a life now that will echo into eternity. May we be faithful in practicing it.
Today, ask yourself:How am I incorporating the principle of Soak, Sow, and Flow into my everyday life?
