Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. (Proverbs 4:23, NIV)
When we accept Christ into our life, we give him our heart in worship. This lays the foundation for all that follows in life. Paul said, “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lordand believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and thus has righteousnessand with the mouth one confesses and thus has salvation” (Romans 10:9–10).
Paul also said, “Let the word of Christdwell in you richly, teaching and exhorting one another with all wisdom, singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, all with gracein your hearts to God” (Colossians 3:16). Our teaching, exhorting, and singing all spring from our heart.
In KingdomNomics, we practice Sow, and Flow so that our hearts are filled with God’s Word. We want to guard our heart so that wrong desires are kept out and only God’s goodness flows from our lives. The way we think, act, and talk all reflect what is in our heart. What we nurture in our heart governs our behavior. This is why God’s Word calls us to guard our heart above all else. As God’s Word is embedded in our heart, we are empowered to make a difference in the world.
