9. You Are God’s Instrument

And Pharaoh said to Joseph, “See, I have set you over all the land of Egypt.” (Genesis 41:41)

What a life Joseph experienced! Favored by his earthly father; abandoned by his brothers, sold as a slave, falsely accused of assaulting the wife of his boss, thrown into prison, made second in command over Egypt, and finally, the savior of his family, Joseph experienced highs and lows in his life. And all this happened by the time he was forty years old!

Through all of these experiences, Joseph maintained his trust in God. He never became bitter over the brutal treatment, abandonment, imprisonment, and false promises made to him. And God used Joseph in the midst of his impossible circumstances.

We, like Joseph, also experience God’s care during impossible times. God uses each one of us in a special way to accomplish his purposes, bless us, and bless those around us. We are his instruments in an impossible world.

God’s people are spread throughout the earth at all levels of society for the purpose of expanding his Kingdom. What a privilege to be granted such a role! Take advantage of the opportunities God gives you to serve and make an eternal difference in his world.

Today, ask yourself:

In what ways am I allowing God to use me in my difficult circumstances to accomplish his purposes?
