“Call on me in prayer and I will answer you. I will show you great and mysteriousthings that you still do not know about.” (Jeremiah 33:3)
“I will not abandonyou as orphans, I will come to you.” (John 14:18)
These are fantastic promises that God makes to us. As we call on him, he promises to answer us and to show us great and mysterious things, particularly the secrets of the kingdom including his great plan of salvation for mankind. This is a process by which the Holy Spirit revels God’s plans to us.
The Word of God becomes increasingly precious to us as we absorb its living and working power, allowing it to transform us into the likeness of Christ. As we call on God, we experience more and more of him. Everything we have been, are, or ever will be is sourced in him. He is waiting for us to call on him and ask for direction!
“I call to you because you will answer me, O God. Listen to me! Hear what I say! Accomplish awesome, faithful deeds, you who powerfully deliver those who look to you for protection from their enemies. Protect me as you would protect the pupil of your eye.Hide me in the shadow of your wings” (Psalm 17:6–8).
Today, ask yourself:
When am I most likely to call on God? How can I begin to implement calling on God first in all situations of my life?
