God’s Infinite Power at Work

God’s Infinite Power at Work | KingdomNomics.comScripture: Colossians 1:15–17, NLT

“Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see—such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him. He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together.” (Colossians 1:15–17, NLT)

Reread these verses. No other power imaginable is greater than what is described here.

Christ, himself, is God. He existed before all of creation. God created everything in heaven and earth for him, by him and through him including all things seen and unseen. It is by his great power that all things are held together.

This takes on even greater meaning when we look at the universe, the planets, and countless stars. The same incredible power that God used in creation was used to raise Christ from the dead! No other power, including thermo-nuclear power, can raise the dead to life again.

Yet, so much of the time it is difficult for us to trust in God rather than in ourselves. These verses help us to realize the futility of trusting in ourselves rather than in God.

God is working through the Holy Spirit to get you and me to trust in him and him alone when it comes to the details of our everyday life. He knows where the bumps in the road exist. He is the one who can successfully guide us through this maze we call the world.

Paul wrote to the Ephesians, “I have not stopped thanking God for you. I pray for you constantly, asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God. I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance” (Ephesians 1:16–18, NLT).

Talk to God

Father, your power is so vast and truly beyond human comprehension. Help me to trust in you and you alone to direct my life.
