Scripture: Colossians 3:1–3, NLT
“Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God.” (Colossians 3:1–3, NLT)
Seeking the things above, and the realities of heaven, requires discipline. It takes discipline to effectively face and overcome diversions and the challenges of living in a broken world where everything we see and feel is in the process of perishing. We are only passing through a world in which we do not have a continuing city.
Think in terms of expanding the kingdom – of helping people to come to Christ – of helping to fulfill the Great Commission.
We are transformed as we renew our minds in the Word of God. That takes time and effort. We need to study, meditate, and allow the peace of Christ to rule in our heart. The more we practice these steps of redemptive faith, the more we will truly enjoy our relationship with God. Only then can we begin to see our life is hidden in Christ. Yes, this will be the ultimate experience when we find ourselves in the presence of God at the end of this life – a life hidden in Christ!
Talk to God
Lord, help me to set my mind on the kingdom values that matter to you. Help me to understand your Word as I read it, so your Word will dwell richly in my heart. I want the peace of Christ to rule in my heart. Increase my desire to invest time, talent, and treasure in kingdom values so my life will truly echo in eternity. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
