Open My Eyes

Through the Word, we gain understanding of God’s eternal plan and our role in it | KingdomNomics.comScripture: Psalm 119:18, ESV

Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law.” (Psalm 119:18, ESV)

To understand the Word of God, we need special revelation from God through the Holy Spirit. Revelation and transparency are the hallmarks in any relationship.

Jesus promised that both he and the Father would make their home with us and reveal themselves to us if we obeyed their commandments.

By the Spirit

By the Spirit | KingdomNomics.comScripture: 2 Corinthians 13:14, NKJV

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.” (2 Corinthians 13:14, NKJV)

It is almost impossible to live life without encountering stress, fear, anxiety, and worry. But all of the above—the grace of Jesus, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit—are needed for us to be consistently successful in overcoming stress, fear, anxiety, and worry in our lives.

Seals, Reveals, and Deals

Seals, Reveals, and Deals | KingdomNomics.com Scripture: 1 Corinthians 2:9–10, NLT

That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, ‘No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.’ But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets.” (1 Corinthians 2:9–10, NLT)

The Holy Spirit does all of the above. He seals us at the pivotal point of spiritual birth: “In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit,” (Ephesians 1:13, ESV)

The Path to Personal Peace, Part 1

The path to personal peace | KingdomNomics.comScripture: Philippians 4:9, NIV

Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.” (Philippians 4:9, NIV)

What an example to follow! How many people could make that statement about themselves? Just put into practice what you have seen and heard from Jesus, and you will experience peace.

Peace is a rare commodity. People spend billions to find peace through drugs, alcohol, pleasure, and other experiences.

Paul shows us the only way to true peace. Peace is sourced in the person of Jesus Christ. Peace comes from God:

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” (John 14:27, NIV)

Open Our Eyes!

Luke 24:31 | KingdomNomicsScripture: Psalm 119:18, NIV

Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law.” (Psalm 119:18, NIV)

Scripture has a lot to say about eyes. Where we focus our eyes is important; they can lead us astray or they can keep our attention of the goals God has places in front of us. We are counseled to look neither to the right or the left. Like the runner in the race, we are to keep our eyes focused on the goal.

As we focus our eyes on the Word of God, we will get to know God better:

Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him….” (Luke 24:31, NIV)

God’s Word will communicate with us, and we will recognize the truth he wants us to experience. We will grow to know Christ as he reveals himself to us.

Are you Kingdom Employed?

Obedience places us in a position to be blessed by God | KingdomNomicsScripture: Joshua 13:1, ESV

Now Joshua was old and advanced in years, and the Lord said to him, “You are old and advanced in years, and there remains yet very much land to possess.” (Joshua 13:1, ESV)

The words still apply today: “…and there remains yet very much land to possess.”

Many people have not had the opportunity to respond to Jesus Christ. It is the responsibility of each generation to use the means at our disposal to reach others for Christ. We have a lot of work to do.

We also have work to do related to our inner person. We need to be rooted and grounded in the love of Christ, strengthened and filled with the Holy Spirit as we navigate through life.

Are You a Pen Filled With Ink?

Psalm 45:1 | KingdomNomicsScripture: Psalm 45:1, ESV

My heart overflows with a pleasing theme; I address my verses to the king; my tongue is like the pen of a ready scribe.” (Psalm 45:1, ESV)

We use this key verse in KingdomNomics to help us with the concepts of SOAK, SOW, and FLOW. As we soak our heart in the Word of God and recite our verses to the King, the Spirit causes our heart to overflow with spiritual nourishment. This discipline strengthens our inner person so Christ can prompt us to help continue his ministry in this world.

Let’s focus on the word “pen” mentioned in the verse. You and I are like pens. A pen is an instrument used to communicate a message to others. Without ink, the pen is useless.

Rooted in the Soil of God’s Love

Rooted in the soil of God's love | KingdomNomics

Scripture: Ephesians 3:16–17, ESV

“…that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love…” (Ephesians 3:16–17, ESV)

This wonderful passage of Scripture should be read in conjunction with several of the surrounding verses to gain their full impact. The Holy Spirit is the great engine of power and capacity, enabling us to successfully fulfill the mission God has given us.

True Faith in Christ

Jesus said, “Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.” (John 12:24, NIV) | KingdomNomics.comScripture: Romans 4:20–21, Hebrews 11:6

“Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God. He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises.” (NLT)

“And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.” (NLT)

Abraham was a man who had true faith in God. True faith includes belief, conviction, dependence in the right object or person, and follow through with action consistent with the conviction.

Walking the Talk

Galatians5.16Scripture: Galatians 5:16

“I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.” (NKJV)

We recently received a question from a subscriber of the 31-day KingdomNomics Applied devotionals about how to overcome a particular moral issue in his life, in addition to fending off the accusations of Satan even after confession of the sin to God.

We suggested several steps an individual can take to overcome sin. The first step is to confess: “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9, NKJV)

Confession includes repentance from continuing or practicing the sin.
