God’s Word Works!

God’s Word Works | KingdomNomics.comMemorize and Meditate

And we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as a human word, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is indeed at work in you who believe.” (1 Thessalonians 2:13, NIV)

Soak your Heart

If we are to taste the goodness of God’s Word, we first have to receive it, accept it, and implant it in the depths of our heart.

We cannot read the Word of God the same way we read other books. God’s Word is living and powerful, and it will work in the life of the believer who views it as such.

It works like a powerful medicine when it is properly ingested. We trust that it will prosper in us and accomplish the purpose for which it was sent.

The Compass of Life

The Compass of Life | KingdomNomics.comMemorize and Meditate

And he said, ‘…. As for me, being on the way, the Lord led me to the house of my master’s brethren.’” (Genesis 24:27, NKJV)

Soak your Heart

If we expect to receive God’s guidance, direction, and blessing, it is critical that we are “on the way” – the Lord’s way. If we expect him to answer our requests, we must make sure we are abiding in him and his Word is abiding us. We must bring our lives into harmony with his revealed will for us.

Only then are we empowered to fulfill the mission he has given us. What better time to check that we are “on the way” God has chosen for us than when we are meditating on the Word he wants to incorporate into our life?

Be on the Lookout

Matthew 25: 13 | KingdomNomicsScripture: Revelation 22:20

“He who testifies to these things says, ‘Surely I am coming quickly.’ Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!” (NKJV)

As the Creator, God is always on the move. The landscape of “circumstances” of the world are constantly changing. Opportunities come and go.

Scripture emphasizes the brevity of life many times: “And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.” (Romans 13:11–12, NKJV)

Welcome to Heaven!

2 Peter 1:11 | KingdomNomicsScripture: 2 Peter 1:11, ESV

For in this way there will be richly provided for you an entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” (2 Peter 1:11, ESV)

Oh! How I love the Word of God!

Yes, it is full of warnings, particularly for those who pay no attention to him. This is also true of believers who decide to take a “holiday” from living for Christ, who died for them. In fact, the warnings are stark and have eternal consequences.

However, for believers who are aggressive in wanting to grow, God’s promises are an irresistible magnet, creating an ever-increasing desire to know him more. God motivates us incentives for obeying him. He has not given us a spirit of fear, “…but of power and love and self-control.” (2 Timothy 1:7, ESV)

Can it get any better than the promise of having a “richly provided entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ”? I don’t think so!

God’s Word—Like a Hammer!

ef045fc8-62a8-4e60-a4db-151e90d1a477Scripture: Jeremiah 20:9

But if I say, ‘I will not mention his word or speak anymore in his name,’ his word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot.” (NIV)

Jeremiah is the prophet who found the Word of God and ate it, and it became the delight of his heart. In this passage, Jeremiah is saying God’s Word is like a fire, a fire in both his heart and his bones that must be released or spoken in accordance with the mission God gave him.

Guarding Our Hearts at All Costs

Soldiers silhouette at sunsetScripture: Proverbs 4:23

Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” (NIV)

When we come to Christ, we give him our hearts in worship. This lays the foundation for all that follows in life. “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.” (Romans 10:9–10, NIV)

As soon as we trust in Jesus Christ, alone, as our Lord and Savior, we are sealed by the Spirit of God, and we are justified and made acceptable to Almighty God. Now that we are secure in him, we are in a position to do the works he has prepared for us to do.

Delight Yourself—In God’s Word

Woman laughing and looking upScripture: Jeremiah 15:16, Psalm 37:4

When your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart’s delight, for I bear your name, Lord God Almighty.” (Jeremiah 15:16, NIV) “Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” (Psalm 37:4, NIV)

The Word of God is at the heart of KingdomNomics. KingdomNomics makes no sense unless it is understood within the context of God’s Word.

Soak, Sow, Flow: The Core Concept for Christian Living

Soar like an eagleScripture: Colossians 3:16

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.” (ESV)

Jesus Christ said, “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life” (John 6:63, ESV).

A sponge soaked in water becomes soft and pliable. When we soak our mind, thoughts, and heart in the Word of God, we are focusing on life itself—the life of Christ that empowers and drives us to accomplish God’s purpose for us.

The Power of God’s Word

African American Studying the Bible at HomeScripture: Isaiah 55:11

…So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” (NIV)

No wonder the Scripture says, “Man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord” (Deuteronomy 8:3, NIV).

God’s Word is powerful. Active. It accomplishes. Wherever it is sent, it prospers.

To fulfill God’s purposes, we need more than material things. We need to absorb God’s Word. As we do so, we learn more about the mind of God and open ourselves to receive revelations he wants us to know and enjoy.

Knowing God: More Valuable than Gold or Silver

Treasure BoxScripture: Philippians 3:10, Job 22:21–25

I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death” (Philippians 3:10, NIV).

Submit to God and be at peace with him; in this way prosperity will come to you. Accept instruction from his mouth and lay up his words in your heart. If you return to the Almighty, you will be restored: If you remove wickedness far from your tent and assign your nuggets to the dust, your gold of Ophir to the rocks in the ravines, then the Almighty will be your gold, the choicest silver for you” (Job 22:21–25, NIV).

Here it is in a nutshell: Knowing God through Christ is priority number one in the life of the Christian.
